Wednesday was Art Day!

Wow! Today we created a lot of beautiful art projects. The beginning of our day was a little disrupted, but in a great way. We had a glass artist, Jenny, come to class today. She helped our class create beautiful glass tiles. I know they will turn out beautiful, in fact I can hardly wait to see them.

We ended our day making leaf prints!!! A special thanks to Mrs. Garcia for helping out with this project. The students learned what happens when you mix yellow and red, yep you guessed it you get orange! A lot of attention went into making these leaf prints. Please come check them out in class.

Autumn Leaves are falling and we are falling into place

Well it is hard to believe that a month of kindergarten is already over.  It feels as if time is really rolling by quickly!  So far we are off to a great start.  Everyone has had a chance to truly get to know each other and it is all about building on our groups strengths for the rest of the year.  So far I see a lot of strengths: Sharing, caring, encouraging, responsible and respectful.

Autumn leaves are beginning to fall down and now is a great time to notice the changes this season brings.  In Kindergarten Math we are currently focusing on sorting.  This can be a hard concept for kids.  If you have a "catch-all" drawer at home you might want to have your kindergartner help you sort it. They could even help you sort laundry.

Your kinder has a good understanding of what to do at school.  Encourage him/her to draw pictures for you at home.  Ask questions and help narrate their stories.  I love reading the fantastic stories your kinders create at school.

Fresh from the garden!

Kindergarten tries yummy veggies from our garden: peas, lettuce, carrots, and broccoli.
